LAWMA Seals Alaba Rago Two Days After Closing Alaba Market

The Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) has taken decisive action by sealing Alaba Rago just two days after shutting down sections of Alaba Market and the bustling Trade Fair Market.

This move comes in response to concerns over indiscriminate waste disposal and a failure to adhere to proper environmental hygiene practices.

Authorities had issued several warnings to markets across Lagos, urging them to maintain cleanliness and adopt responsible waste management practices. However, these warnings appeared to have fallen on deaf ears.

It’s worth noting that the Lagos State government had previously ordered the closure of specific sections of the renowned Alaba International Market and the bustling Trade Fair Market due to reported sanitation issues.

This decision had stirred controversy and criticism, with some traders alleging political motivations, asserting that authorities had overlooked the unsanitary conditions in Alaba Rago and focused their actions solely on Alaba Market and the Trade Fair Market, both predominantly associated with a specific ethnic group.
