Bashir Ahmad, an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital Communication, has responded to recent comments by Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
Bosun Tijani had earlier expressed dismay over the destruction of the Digital Innovation Park in Kano, which he said was scheduled for launch next week.
Tijani lamented that the park, along with the #3MTT technical talent accelerator was set ablaze and looted by sponsored thugs.
He described the incident as a significant setback, affecting plans to deepen the technology workforce and create job opportunities for the youth.
However, reacting to the remark, Ahmad stated that the Digital Innovation Park has been completed for several years and was commissioned by Minister Pantami in January 2023.
According to Ahmad, the park has remained unused since its commissioning, and its operational status could have potentially prevented the recent break-in and looting incident.

Ahmad argued that if the park had been operational, it might have deterred the recent vandalism, highlighting that similar buildings in the area have not faced such incidents.
He urged the Ministry of Communications to put the park to use immediately to avoid further incidents and ensure the facility fulfills its intended purpose.
The statements from Ahmad and Tijani reflect an underlying tension between factions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmad’s response, which emphasized the park’s long-standing completion under Buhari’s administration, contrasts with Tijani’s focus on the current damage and disruption under Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
