Protesters in Jos, Plateau State capital, took to the streets demanding that Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu address the nation about the ongoing economic hardships.
The demonstration, led by Prophet Isah Elbuba, on Friday, saw a significant increase in participation compared to the previous day.
Protesters in Jos blocked major roads, including the Old Airport Roundabout, causing traffic disruptions throughout the city.
Elbuba emphasized the peaceful nature of the protest, describing it as a communal expression of frustration and a call for action against the rising cost of living.
He urged Tinubu to reverse the recent fuel price hike and reinstate subsidies to alleviate the economic burden on Nigerians.
In response to the protest, many Nigerians on X questioned the involvement of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, in addressing the current crisis.
Recall that Pastor Enoch Adeboye Organised a million-man protest against the government of former president Goodluck Jonathan over the spate of kidnapping and insecurity in Nigeria.
However, critics on X reacted to prophet Elbuba joining the protest while accusing Adeboye of focusing on financial contributions rather than addressing the socioeconomic issues at hand.
An X user, The Brand New Czar, stated, “This man (Prophet Elbuba) and Adeboye no dey serve the same God…Adeboye God says everything is fine.
Another, Samuel Chimaobi,” He (Adeboye) is just after offering and tithe not else.
Another X user, Doctor Cruise, added, “Meanwhile, there is our Daddy(Adeboye) somewhere that has been commanding Naira to rise against the dollar.”
