Kano Faced Its Worst Corruption Under Ganduje’s Administration; Investments, Assets Were Fraudulently Sold, Benefiting Select Few—Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has accused the previous administration led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of overseeing the worst corruption in the country.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for civil servants in the directorate cadre on anti-corruption principles, Yusuf expressed deep concern over the widespread corruption that plagued Kano during Ganduje’s eight-year tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Represented by his deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, at the workshop in Dawakin Kudu Local Government, Governor Yusuf stated that the level of corruption in Kano was unmatched.

He highlighted how state investments and assets were fraudulently sold, benefiting only a select few while leaving the state’s infrastructure in a state of disrepair.

“Our investment and state assets, which are crucial as the region’s commercial hub, were hopelessly and fraudulently sold off.

“Those who acquired these assets are the primary culprits behind this corruption.

“Our infrastructure suffered years of neglect occasioned by multifaceted problems we are battling with after assuming office,” he stated.

The governor decried the extensive revenue leakages that enriched a few individuals at the expense of the state’s collective interests.

He pledged to tackle the challenges posed by these corrupt practices and to restore integrity to the state’s governance and development efforts.
