Nigeria continues to maintain and feature prominently among the world’s worst-performing police forces, according to global rankings from 2016 and 2023.

According to statistics posted on X by StatiSense In 2016, Nigeria topped the list as the worst-performing police force globally, a position indicative of widespread concerns about corruption, inefficiency, and human rights abuses within the force.

The rankings, which placed Nigeria at number one, were followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, Mozambique, and Bangladesh.

In the latest 2023 rankings, Nigeria dropped slightly to fourth place, yet it remains firmly among the top seven countries with the most criticized police forces worldwide.

Venezuela now tops the list, followed by Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Despite this slight shift, Nigeria’s persistent presence on the list underscores ongoing challenges within its police force that have yet to be adequately addressed.
