David Adeleke, known by his stage name Davido, has revealed that he and his father had made a significant agreement during his college years. Davido, originally born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, shared this personal detail on stage during an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson show.
During the show, the unavailable crooner said, “My dad was so adamant about me going to school, so we made a deal that I’d be giving college two weeks and two weeks in the studio.
My father owns a university and loves Western education so much. He didn’t mind me doing music, but he was really on my neck about finishing school, and my mom was a college professor.
There was a time when my music was getting bigger and I was a distraction to the whole class, then I had to do part-time class, and now my music is everywhere,” he said.
A Netizen and a big fan of his, LAVIDA BOY, reacted with a tweet: “You can tell Davido and his dad are very close. As a man, the best thing that can happen to you is to have an understanding dad (parent). You go enjoy your family,” he tweeted.
Another fan on the X said, “Life balancing. It only takes understanding and exposed African parents to agree to that deal.”
