Take Fight Against Corruption Close to Your Heart — EFCC Chief Charges Youths to Lead Anti-Corruption Campaign

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerian youths to champion the fight against corruption at the grassroots level.

Speaking at a debate program named “Head to Head” in Abuja, which was organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to address the out-of-school syndrome, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of youth involvement in the anti-corruption crusade.

Represented by Aisha Mohammed, head of the EFCC’s enlightenment and reorientation unit, Olukoyede stressed that the voice of every Nigerian youth is crucial in promoting integrity and moral conduct.

He urged the students to commit to ethical behavior and to contribute to building a better society.

He stated, “We want you to know that your voices matter in this fight, and from today onward, you have to take the fight against corruption dear to your heart.

“We want you to be people of integrity, do the right thing always, and always stand for the right thing even when nobody is watching you.

“Nigeria is the only country we have and we all must join hands together to make it great,” he added.

Addressing the students, Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, Olalekan Ogunjobi, in his presentation on the topic “Cybercrime and its Menace,” , cautioned youths to avoid cybercrime and focus on legitimate opportunities available online.

Ogunjobi highlighted that despite peer pressure and other challenges, youths can achieve success without resorting to fraud. He stressed that there are many ways one can make a living legitimately via cyberspace and make lots of money without indulging in fraud.
