FBI Release Documents of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chicago Heroin Trafficking Investigation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has commenced the release of documents pertaining to an ongoing investigation into the alleged involvement of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a Chicago heroin trafficking ring.

This development follows a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request led by Aaron Greenspan of PlainSite and Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin, who announced the release of the first tranche of documents via his verified social media handle.

The disclosed files include information about individuals linked to the alleged heroin trafficking operation, notably Lee Andrew Edwards, Mueez Akande, Abiodun Agbele, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In response to the FOIA request, the FBI identified approximately 2,500 pertinent pages. These documents are set to be disclosed to the public on a monthly basis, with the first release scheduled for the end of October 2023. The decision to release these records comes after initial reluctance from the FBI and marks a significant step in addressing questions regarding Bola Tinubu’s U.S. entry, the use of aliases, and his alleged involvement in illicit activities.

Bola Tinubu’s presence in the United States dates back to the 1970s, and the released records are expected to provide insights into his history, including details of his alleged forfeiture of $460,000 in drug-related incidents in 1990s Chicago.

Lee Andrew Edwards, who features prominently in the released documents, is identified as the head of a drug trafficking organization based in Gary, Indiana. Edwards and his organization are allegedly responsible for distributing large quantities of white heroin and cocaine on a monthly basis. The source of their white heroin supply is reportedly Mueez Akande, a Nigerian national believed to be the head of a significant Nigerian drug trafficking organization based in Chicago, Illinois.

The ongoing investigation primarily focuses on the drug trafficking organization led by Lee Andrew Edwards in Gary, Indiana. It has revealed that Edwards’ organization receives a supply of white heroin from a Chicago-based Nigerian trafficking group. Bola Tinubu is reportedly linked to this trafficking network, as Edwards is identified as the head of the White Heroin Trafficking operation that allegedly supplied Tinubu.

Sources indicate that Edwards’ organization is highly profitable, with an estimated daily net income of approximately $10,000 from their drug trafficking activities. The FBI’s investigations have also uncovered allegations that Tinubu and other members of the trafficking group received protection from the Gary Police Department and assistance from a corrupt attorney in Lake County.
