Andrew Wynne, a British national, has addressed claims made by the Nigerian Police Force that he was involved in plotting to overthrow Bola Tinubu’s government.
Wynne, who was among those declared wanted by the police alongside a Nigerian named Lucky Ehims, denied the allegations and stated that he is not on the run.
The Nigerian Police had previously announced a N20 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Wynne and Ehims, offering N10 million for each suspect.
In a statement to Channels TV on Monday, Wynne expressed his willingness to engage in discussions with Nigerian authorities.
He refuted the claims against him, emphasizing his longstanding connection to Nigeria through over 25 years of visits.
Wynne also expressed his readiness to meet with representatives from the Nigerian High Commission in London to address the accusations.
He said, “I am not aware that I am a fugitive. I am not aware that I am running away from the law.
“I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and have had a bookshop in the NLC office right in the centre of Abuja for seven years. All that time, of course, the security forces have paid no interest in me.
“I am more than happy to talk to the police and have a discussion on WhatsApp or Zoom.
“I am more than happy to go to London and meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission.”
