The Nigerian Police Force has declared David Hundeyin, a popular investigative journalist, wanted in connection with the prosecution of Isaac Bristol.
Bristol is accused by the Nigerian Police Force of being the well-known anonymous online whistleblower, PIDOM Nigeria.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, both Hundeyin and Michael Temidayo Alade have been identified as alleged accomplices of PIDOM.
Bristol was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday and has been remanded at Kuje prison for a minimum of seven days. He faces charges of money laundering, cybercrime, and the illegal acquisition, retention, and distribution of classified official documents.
The police have now named investigative journalist David Hundeyin as a suspect in this case, alongside Michael Temidayo Alade. Alade is also listed as a witness for the police and is expected to testify against Bristol, as reported by Sahara Reporters.
Hundeyin is known for his award-winning investigative journalism, which has highlighted corruption and human rights abuses in Nigeria. His accolades include the 2020 People Journalism Prize for Africa, the GRC Anti-FinCrime Reporter of the Year for 2021 and 2022, Most Outstanding Young Person in Journalism at the 2022 Lagos Youth Awards.

The 2023 Distinguished James Currey Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, the Special Investigative Reporting Award at the 2023 PwC Media Excellence Awards, being a finalist for the 2023 AIJC African Investigative Journalist of the Year Award, and a 2024 Journalism Residency at the Centro Cultural Africano México.
Currently living in exile to avoid persecution by the Nigerian government, Hundeyin has authored two books, The Jungle (Abibiman, 2023) and Breaking Point (Abibiman, 2024), which detail his ongoing conflict with Nigerian state actors. Previous attempts by the government to abduct or extradite him have been unsuccessful.
