Old tweets from Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect arrested for an assassination attempt on former President of the United States Donald Trump, have resurfaced.
Routh fired shots near the former President at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday. Fortunately, He was unharmed as the U.S. Secret Service quickly intervened.
In a tweet from June 2020, Routh expressed his disappointment in Trump’s presidency, stating: “I will be glad when you gone.”
The tweet also mentioned Routh’s initial support for him in 2016, but noted how his views had drastically changed.
In June 2020, Routh wrote, “@realDonaldTrump While you were my choice in 2016, I and the world hoped that president Trump would be different and better than the candidate, but we all were greatly disappointment and it seems you are getting worse and devolving; are you retarded; I will be glad when you gone.”
The U.S. Secret Service has confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. A similar attempt on Trump’s life occurred during his Pennsylvania campaign.
