The Nigeria Police Force on Friday commenced the orderly trial of officers who were caught in viral videos threatening to shoot three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Lagos State.
The officers allegedly extorted N1 million from the three NYSC members in Surulere, Lagos State, on Thursday.
The officers, reportedly from the Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House, Area C Police Command in Surulere, are accused of harassing the corps members during a stop-and-search operation.
In videos shared on X by one Oluyemi Fasipe on Thursday evening, a police officer is seen demanding the vehicle’s documents from the occupants while threatening them with a gun.

They were threatened with firearms, kidnapped, and taken to the KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE AREA C POLICE COMMAND of the @LagosPoliceNG where they were robbed. Their offence was the absence of a physical copy of a driver’s license. This is evil.”
In one of the videos, an officer is also heard saying, “This one is fighting me, I give myself to gun, somebody give me gun, carry me come here and you are putting hand on me like this.”
The officers, however, ordered someone to remove the car owner’s license plate.
Providing an update on the matter in a separate post on X, Lagos Police Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin wrote, “The officers have been summoned, and their trial has begun.”
“We urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at the State Headquarters to testify at the ongoing trial.”
