Nigeria Police Blame IPPIS Error for Salary Delays, Underpayment

The Nigeria Police Force has blamed the recent salary delays and instances of underpayment on errors within the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

In a statement, the police clarified that the ongoing discrepancies in officers’ pay are due to technical glitches in the government’s payment platform, reassuring personnel that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and ensure prompt payment of all outstanding salaries.

According to Sahara Reporters, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, a system error occurred after configuring the minimum wage component, causing the delay.

In a police wireless message dated September 30, 2024, and sent to all formations, units, and police divisions from the Police Accountability Board at Force Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun assured that the issue is being rectified.

Egbetokun explained that there was a system error that occurred after the configuration of the minimum wage component.

According to the statement, the configuration could not be properly linked to the payroll on the IPPIS platform which resulted in over-payment, short-payment, non-payment of some personnel.
