Olivia Nuzzi, the embattled New York Magazine journalist under investigation for not promptly disclosing a personal relationship with former U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has quit.
It was a mutual decision for the magazine and Ms Nuzzi to “part ways,” a statement posted on New York Magazine said on Monday.
The paper also stated that an independent firm hired to look into Ms Nuzzi’s works and coverage of Mr Kennedy’s campaign found “no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias.
“The firm’s report corroborated the magazine’s internal review findings, which found no bias in the reporter’s articles.
“Nevertheless, the magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best course forward is to part ways,” the statement said.

The journalist’s attorney, Ari Wilkenfeld, said his client was glad, albeit not surprised, to have learnt that her published works were void of bias.
Mr Wilkenfield explained that Ms Nuzzi was “gratified though not surprised that two different investigations have determined that her reporting on the 2024 campaign was sound and that she did nothing wrong, adding that “she looks forward to the next chapter of her career.”
Recall that New York Magazine placed Ms Nuzzi on leave in September after learning she shared a personal relationship with the former presidential candidate and described it as “a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures.
“The publication said her failure to come clean from the onset “created at the very least the appearance of a conflict.”
However, an aide to Mr Kennedy who dropped out of the race to support Republican candidate Donald Trump said his principal had not seen Ms Nuzzi since the interview.
“Mr Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece,” the New York Times cited Mr Kennedy’s aide.
