Nigerian airline Air Peace has announced a 100 percent increase in ticket prices for all domestic routes, effective November 1, 2024.
The price hike, coming just before the end-of-year travel period, has doubled the cost of air travel, impacting Nigerians planning to travel for the festive season.
In an email notification to customers, the airline confirmed that fares would double across all routes, urging passengers to consult their travel agents for further assistance. With the price adjustment, a one-way ticket from Lagos to Abuja, previously costing N143,000, is set to rise to N286,000.
The fare increase is likely to affect numerous Nigerians who, amidst rising insecurity across parts of the country, view air travel as the safest transportation option.
However, the hike may limit options for many, given that road transport costs have also risen significantly following recent increases in petrol prices under Chief Bola Tinubu’s administration.
