BREAKING: CAF Awards Three Points, Three Goals to Nigeria, Fines Libya $50,000

The Confederation of African Football’s Disciplinary Committee has granted the Super Eagles of Nigeria three points and three goals for their incomplete Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya.

According to a statement released by the committee, “the Libya Football Federation has been found in violation of Article 31 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations, as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

“Match No. 87 of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers 2025, Libya vs. Nigeria (scheduled for 15 October 2024 in Benghazi), is declared forfeited by Libya, with a resulting score of 3-0 awarded to Nigeria.

“The Libya Football Federation is fined USD 50,000.

“The fine must be paid within 60 days of notification of this decision.”
