Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the distribution of an additional 220 operational vehicles, including water cannons, armored personnel carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters.
As announced by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, the move aims to bolster security and maintain order during the elections scheduled for November 11, 2023.

In preparation for the polls, the IGP has organized training sessions for police officers involved in election security management.
Egbetokun has also sought approval from the federal government to provide allowances and other necessary support to boost the morale of the security personnel during their operations.
Emphasizing the importance of peaceful conduct during the elections, the IGP has called on all stakeholders in the three states to embrace peace, uphold the sanctity of the rule of law, and remain law-abiding.
He has assured that the police and other security agencies have been placed on high alert to prevent any unruly acts that could disrupt the elections in any of the states.
