The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, pledged on Monday to enhance logistics and result management for the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Prof. Yakubu made this commitment during a visit to the INEC office in Ondo State to assess the commission’s preparedness for the upcoming election.
Speaking in Akure, he noted that while the commission had received favorable reports from the state office, it was important to conduct an on-site readiness evaluation.
“We have learnt a lot of lessons, not only from the last election but also, from previous elections.
“Basically, there are two challenges; the first one is logistics for election so that polling units can open promptly on the election day.
“The second is result management, and my assurance to voters in Ondo State is that they are going to see fast improvement in these two processes,” he said.
