Twenty former agitators from the Niger Delta Region have embarked on a five-week mandatory training program to become aircraft maintenance engineers, courtesy of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
The initiative was disclosed by the PAP Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd.), in an official statement released on Tuesday.
The beneficiaries are part of the larger group of 75 pilots enrolled in the PAP Aviation Resuscitation Programme, specifically designed to empower former agitators from the Niger Delta region.
Notably, the first batch of 20 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers successfully graduated on October 31, 2023, as reported by The PUNCH.
Major General Ndiomu, while addressing the new beneficiaries, emphasized that the launch of training for the second batch is a testament to the commitment of his administration to fulfill its promises.

He highlighted the current rapid expansion of the global aviation industry, underscoring the increasing importance of manpower development as recognized by industry operators and regulators.
He reiterated that through this specialized program, the Presidential Amnesty Programme is now a crucial supplier of skilled professionals to the global aviation industry (Aircraft ).
“You represent not just the future of the Niger Delta, but the future of Nigeria and the global aviation industry.
“The PAP has provided you with all you require to succeed on this journey; what you owe us in return is excellence,” Ndiomu added.
He noted the program’s significance in supplying vital workforce to address industry needs, reiterating PAP’s commitment to continually establishing advanced prospects for the professional growth of individuals hailing from the Niger Delta region, in alignment with Bola Tinubu’s agenda.
Nevertheless, he encouraged the recipients to excel in their pursuits and mold the future of the Niger Delta, making valuable contributions to both Nigeria and the global aviation sector.
