Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has assured 1,487 corps members who were deployed to the state of security and needed support.
He made the commitment during the swearing-in ceremony of Batch C Stream I, which took place at the temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
During the event, Gombe’s Chief Judge, Justice Halima Mohammed, who was represented by Justice Haruna Kerend, administered the oath of allegiance to the newly arrived corps members.
Governor Yahaya, who addressed the gathering through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Inuwa Ibrahim, emphasized the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety, welfare, and overall well-being of the corps members.
“Let me place on record that Gombe is peaceful, so be rest assured of your security, welfare, and general well-being because it is the priority of the government, as indicated in the robust synergy between the state and security agencies.
“Starting with the security apparatus deployed to the orientation camp. Gombe people are peaceful and open-minded. Hence, they will continually ensure that as youths, you will have an enabling environment to maximize your potential.” He said.
Governor Yahaya commended the corps members for their willingness to serve in the state and highlighted the opportunities available in Gombe. He stated, “Gombe is blessed with rich cultural heritage and agricultural produce, which also promotes basic business ideas.”
He concluded by urging the corps members to embrace their service with dedication, emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation. “Be reminded that the future of this country lies in your hands as leaders of tomorrow. Do not mortgage this unique opportunity to promote peaceful co-existence despite the cultural and ethnic background to promote the integrity of our country as one united and indivisible entity.”

The state Coordinator of NYSC, Dawut Jidda, echoed the governor’s assurances, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of the corps members throughout their service year. Jidda also reassured the corps members that the people of Gombe State are known for their peaceful and hospitable nature, creating an environment conducive to their service and personal growth.
