Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has slammed Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), who appears to be prioritizing the establishment of business centers over genuine religious institutions.
Speaking at a public event, Falana raised concerns about the focus of Adeboye’s vision to build more churches, hinting that the initiative might lean more towards financial objectives than spiritual pursuits.
Pastor Adeboye, has recently outlined his commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to a church within walking distance.
He described the expansion of church branches as a divine mission aimed at promoting spiritual growth, fostering community ties, and making worship spaces easily accessible.

While acknowledging the growing influence of religious institutions, Falana suggested that such efforts should align more closely with societal needs, including education, healthcare, and job creation.
He called for a reexamination of how religious organizations can address Nigeria’s pressing developmental challenges alongside their spiritual objectives.
The contrasting viewpoints have sparked conversations about the evolving role of faith-based organizations in shaping the nation’s socio-economic landscape.
