The Arewa community has alleged that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to divert tax revenues from northern states to fund development projects in Lagos.
In a statement posted on its official Twitter handle, the group claimed, “Tinubu is trying to use Arewa taxes to build Lagos. This can NEVER happen!!!”
The accusation has sparked widespread debate, drawing attention to concerns over regional inequalities in resource allocation.
They further condemned the alleged plan, highlighting the region’s pressing socio-economic challenges, including poor infrastructure, widespread poverty, and inadequate healthcare services.

“The North has contributed significantly to national revenue, yet our region remains underdeveloped. Diverting our taxes to Lagos would be a grave injustice,” stated a spokesperson for the Arewa Youth Assembly.
The group has called for greater transparency in federal revenue allocation to ensure equitable development across the country.
