Nigerians have slammed the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, for applauding a US-Democrats-backed drug baron, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for implementing the IMF’s economic recommendations, which in turn impoverished the populace.
In a picture taken at the G-20 Summit in Brazil, posted on X, Georgieva noted, “Obrigada, Rio! Wrapping up a productive G20 in Rio—grateful for the meaningful discussions on pressing global issues. A special thank you to our gracious hosts and the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro for unforgettable moments. #G20Brazil”
In response to the tweet, @Lekside34 wrote, “Why support a filthy criminal who forfeited proceeds from drug-related business in the first place? This man stole the people’s mandate, recruited hooligans to disenfranchise eligible voters, stole electoral materials and results away; he brought so much unprecedented hardship to its citizenry, bribed the Nigerian judiciary and captured all the apparatus of government just to rob the citizens of its sense of belonging. All the loans he has been receiving since he came into office have been carted away by him and his cronies at the detriment of the people and he is an unrepentant kleptomaniac. Even the EU elections observers reported that the 2023 election that brought him to office was below standard as he bribed the electorate body and they failed to follow the stipulated rules and guidelines.
