“A Yacht can’t be a priority for our defence needs”– Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, the former representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, has raised concerns about the allocation of resources, suggesting that the presidential yacht should not take precedence over essential defense requirements for the nation.

Sani underscored that Nigerian troops stationed on the frontlines have been consistently expressing their grievances regarding the lack of fundamental necessities, such as adequate weaponry, food provisions, and medical support.

Taking to his social media platform X on Saturday, November 4, Sani questioned the wisdom behind prioritizing a presidential yacht while troops face these critical challenges. He suggested that investments in technologies like drones or operational vehicles would serve the nation’s defense needs more effectively.

“Why not drones or operational vehicles?” he asked.

“A Yacht can’t be a priority for our defense needs. We have heard reports of our troops in the front lines complaining of lack of adequate basic weapons and even food to eat. Why not drones or operational vehicles?

“My question for the Navy; What is the magic behind Tampolo and his men achieving successes in the high seas without the use of Billions of Naira worth of yacht?

This statement from Shehu Sani highlights concerns about the allocation of resources within the defense sector and the potential redirection of funds to address the critical needs of the Nigerian armed forces.
