AAU Graduate Attempts Suicide Following Withheld Results

Precious Ogbeide, a 2018 graduate of Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma, Edo State, reportedly made an attempt at suicide after the school allegedly refused to provide him and several other graduates with their results.

Ogbeide began to stab himself with parts of a broken bottle, according to his parents, who claimed he had been suffering from depression as a result of not receiving his results after five years in the school.

Ogbeide was said to have been rushed to the hospital on Monday after his relatives present at the time of the incident grabbed hold of him and prevented him from committing suicide.

Many other graduates, like Ogbeide, have expressed the frustrating situation of not receiving their certificates after spending ample time at the school.

According to the school’s Head of Corporate Communications and Protocol, Mike Aladenika, the students whose certificates and results were compromised may have had difficulties with some of their courses while they were enrolled.

“If you had graduated and done all you were asked to do while you were a student, you would not have problems with your results.

“Some of the students who did not take cognizance of the deficiencies they had with their courses are the ones facing these challenges,” Aladenika said.

Ogbeide continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
