Following a protest by students at the Okezie School of Midwifery Abiriba, Abia State, the state government has dismissed the embattled former acting principal, Mrs. Ogbonna Chituru Adiele.
The students had accused her of embezzling funds intended for the school’s operations, misappropriating the SUG ECG machine for personal gain, and employing ghost workers to siphon money.
During the protest on school premises, students openly questioned her management and conduct as principal.

In a protest letter obtained by South-East PUNCH, the Students Union Government (SUG) of the school, titled “Petition for the Removal of the Head of our School, Acting Principal, Mrs. Ogbonna Chituru Adiele,” urged the Abia State Commissioner for Health to investigate the allegations and take prompt action.
The SUG also cited her prolonged absences, neglect of responsibilities, poor academic management, and usurpation of duties assigned to the Vice Principal, Examination Committee, and School Accounting Services.
The letter, signed by SUG President Comrade Uche Maximus Chibuikem and General Secretary Immaculata Anyanwu, highlighted the urgent need for her removal and requested a response from the government on the steps taken to address the students’ concerns.
When contacted, Mrs. Adiele, who was en route to Umuahia and available at 11 am at the state secretariat in Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, refused to answer calls from our reporter.
In response to the protest and the letter, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, swiftly suspended Mrs. Adiele and appointed Mrs. Okorie Comfort James as her replacement to ensure the smooth running of the school.
