Governor Alex Otti has announced that Abia State’s new public transport system will begin operations before the end of July, starting with the deployment of 20 electric buses.
Otti made this known during the ‘Promise Kept Carnival’ organised by the Aba Business Community and Landlords Association to celebrate the completion of the Port Harcourt Road reconstruction in Aba.
He said the transport upgrade is part of his administration’s efforts to modernise public infrastructure and adopt clean energy solutions. The project also includes the construction of modern bus terminals across key locations in the state.

“In the next two months, not more than two months, our transport system will start working. If you go around, you will see the bus terminals we are building,” the governor stated.
Otti added that the 20 electric buses, which he described as world-class, had already been paid for by the state government.
The Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, commended the government’s development initiatives and assured of continued legislative support for the administration’s rebuilding agenda.
