Popular Nigerian comedian Acapella has voiced frustration over the country’s continued underdevelopment, expressing deep disappointment at Nigeria’s inability to keep up with the rest of the world despite over six decades of independence.
In a post on his official X account on Wednesday, the stand-up comic said every time he travels abroad, he feels broken by the stark contrast in progress between Nigeria and other countries.
“Every time I step my foot out of this country, I can’t help but feel heartbroken for some of the things we still talk about or see as big deal as a nation,” he wrote.
Acapella lamented that while other nations are making significant strides, Nigeria appears to be stuck at the starting line.
“It almost feels like the rest of the world is approaching final destination, while we are yet to even take off,” he said.
Referencing the popular proverb about Rome not being built in a day, the comedian pointed out that even after 65 years, Nigeria appears to have made little to no progress.

“I know Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it’s been 65 years, we never even start to mould block,” he wrote, followed by a facepalm emoji.
He rounded off his post with a rhetorical but emotionally loaded question that echoed the mood of many Nigerians, “Naija how far?”
The post has sparked conversations online, with many users echoing similar frustrations over poor governance, infrastructure decay, rising cost of living, and repeated leadership failures under successive governments.
