Popular Nigerian comedian, Acapella, has lashed out at the country’s poor international standing, expressing frustration over the exclusion of Nigeria from global Evisa Express platform while smaller African countries like Niger enjoy smoother access.
Taking to his verified X account on Thursday, May 30, the comedian didn’t hold back in criticising Nigeria’s weak foreign relations and persistent image crisis abroad.
“I swear, this country, like say we dey alive we for don die,” Acapella wrote. “Cos how little nations like Niger, will get access to things as little as Evisa to tourist destinations, but the Nigerian passport has to go through hell and back.”
The post, which included screenshots from Evisa website showing multiple African nations listed except Nigeria, sparked conversation online about the perceived irrelevance of the Nigerian passport and the nation’s dwindling diplomatic weight.
“No international relationships whatsoever with other nations, only to beg beg, borrow borrow naim we sabi. Mtcheewww,” he added.
His comments highlight growing public resentment over the state of Nigeria’s foreign affairs and the government’s perceived inability to secure basic privileges for its citizens, such as visa-free or simplified travel arrangements.

Many Nigerians have long complained that their passport, once ranked among Africa’s most accepted, now faces stricter entry restrictions in many parts of the world.
Acapella’s remarks underscore a wider frustration that many citizens feel, that the government has prioritised borrowing over building global partnerships that benefit ordinary Nigerians. The comedian’s post has since gone viral, adding to growing calls for a fundamental rethink of Nigeria’s international positioning and passport diplomacy.
