Access Bank, US Authorities Speak on Herbert Wigwe’s Death

Access Bank Plc has stated that it currently lacks “specific information” regarding the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, who perished in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, United States of America.

The bank has affirmed its collaboration with US authorities to gather more details surrounding the incident.

In a tweet issued on Sunday, Access Bank conveyed, “We have received numerous inquires concerning an airplane crash in the USA. Presently, we lack specific information; however, we are actively collaborating with US authorities who will furnish updates.

“Your understanding and support are valued, and we commit to keeping you informed promptly as we receive updates on the situation.”

Earlier reports by Parallel facts on Saturday indicated that Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and two children, lost their lives in the helicopter crash while en route to Las Vegas.

It was reported that Wigwe had departed from Lagos State, Nigeria, on Wednesday to attend Super Bowl 58, an American football event scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

US officials disclosed that the helicopter, a Eurocopter EC 130, crashed near Nipton, located on the edge of the Mojave Desert, late on Friday evening. At the time of the tragic incident, the helicopter was carrying six individuals.
