Soldiers have blocked a major road leading to the hometown of Governor Yahaya Bello in Okenne, Kogi State, during the governorship election on Saturday. The road blockage prevented journalists and election observers from accessing the polling unit where the governor was expected to cast his vote.

According to Newsmen, the soldiers did not give any explanation for their action and only allowed the media and observers to pass around 8:15am. However, another road blockage was encountered at S.J Deluxe Hotel along Okene-Lokoja road, further hindering the movement of the election stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the Kogi governorship election was underway in other parts of the state, with the accreditation of voters and the arrival of electoral officers. In Lokoja, the state capital, almost all polling units had the presence of electoral and security officials, with prospective voters checking out their names.
