Nigeria political commentator, Abdul-Aziz Abubakar, has called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu to account for funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidy and the trillions of naira borrowed by the federal government before imposing further taxes on Nigerians.
He made the call in a post on X, formerly Twitter, questioning the tangible benefits the resources have delivered to citizens.
In the statement, Abubakar criticised the administration’s fiscal policies, arguing that Nigerians deserve transparency beyond official claims of governance spending.

He accused the government of prioritising what he described as extravagant lifestyles while many citizens continue to struggle with rising living costs and worsening economic conditions.
The remarks come amid increasing public criticism of the Tinubu administration’s economic decisions, particularly fuel subsidy removal, increased taxation, and public borrowing.
Several analysts and citizens have called for greater accountability and visible improvements in social services, infrastructure, and welfare to justify the government’s revenue measures.
