A social media commentator has faulted Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), over a recent statement warning that global powers like China, Russia, and Britain would not come to Nigeria’s defense if the United States intervened, citing it as a dangerous statement.
The commentary, shared on X (formerly Twitter) via the handle @TheAjakeManger, described Adeboye’s phrasing as “dangerous rhetoric,” arguing that it frames America as targeting Nigeria itself rather than focusing on Islamic terrorist groups responsible for attacks on Christians.
Adeboye made the remarks during the RCCG’s November Holy Ghost Service, urging Bola Tinubu to eliminate terrorists and their financiers within a 90-day period.
He emphasized that “China is not coming to defend us. Russia will not come to defend us,” warning that any failure to act decisively could have serious consequences for national security.
In the X post, the social commentator highlighted that Adeboye’s words could mislead the public into thinking Nigeria was under threat from the United States rather than from terrorists.
