Several European clubs, including Napoli, have responded to Nigeria’s triumph in the semi-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against South Africa.
The Super Eagles secured their spot in the final by defeating the Bafana Bafana 4-2 in a thrilling penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Stanley Nwabali, the Nigerian goalkeeper, emerged as the hero of the match, earning the title of Man of the Match for his crucial saves during the penalty shootout.
Napoli took to Twitter through its official account, X, to extend their congratulations, tweeting, “Congratulations to @victorosimhen9 and @NGSuperEagles on reaching the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations!”

Fulham, showcasing their support for their players Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, who represent Nigeria, tweeted, “Our boys [Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey] are #AFCON2023 finalists #SoarSuperEagles #LetsDoItAgain.”
Brentford also joined in the celebrations, tweeting, “The Tank keeps on rolling. Frank is heading to the AFCON Final after Nigeria’s penalty shootout victory over South Africa.”
Atalanta added their voice to the chorus of congratulations, tweeting, “@Alookman_ and @NGSuperEagles are #AFCON2023 finalists.”
Nigeria is set to face Ivory Coast in the final showdown on Sunday, setting the stage for an electrifying finale to the tournament.
