The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Marine Bridge in Ijora for a period of 41 days.
This closure is necessary to facilitate repair work by the Federal Ministry of Works.
The bridge will be inaccessible from November 10th to December 21st, 2023.
This marks the second time the government has had to close the bridge this year, with the first closure occurring in February.
Over the past four years, this vital bridge, which connects the two major seaports in Lagos, has been closed six times for extended durations.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, reassured the public that alternative routes have been established for motorists.

Those traveling from Ijora/Apapa Road to Mobil Road will be rerouted through Ijora, connecting to the Total Access Ramp, and then heading towards Malu Road to reach Mobil Road and their intended destinations.
For motorists heading to Ijora/Apapa, they will be directed to the Apapa-bound ramp of the bridge, where they can make a U-turn at Point Road Junction, allowing them to access Marine Bridge and continue to their desired locations.
Moreover, motorists can utilize the Marine Bridge Access Road to Area B and make a U-turn at Point Junction Road, enabling them to continue their journeys across the bridge.
Osiyemi assured the public that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will deploy traffic personnel to manage the flow of traffic and minimize inconveniences for motorists. He also appealed for patience from motorists while using the diversion routes.
