In response, Senator Abubakar Kyari revealed that the Federal Government has begun distributing 42,000 metric tonnes of grains to focal points in state capitals nationwide. He stated, “We have received approval from Mr. President to distribute 42,000 metric tons of assorted grains free of charge to the Nigerian population.”

He further explained that the distribution is discreetly underway due to security concerns. Additionally, he announced plans to release 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from mega rice millers into the market to stabilize prices.

These actions, according to Senator Kyari, are aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians, with the assurance that such challenges will soon be a thing of the past.

Regarding security, Senator Kyari informed the committee of collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other security agencies to safeguard food warehouses from vandalism across the nation.

After the interactive session, Senator Saliu Mustapha expressed satisfaction with the government’s efforts, stating, “We are convinced that the steps being taken by the federal government are in the right direction.” He emphasized the importance of timely execution and collaboration, expressing optimism that Nigerians will benefit from the government’s food security policies.
