Ashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has praised Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, who was assassinated by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday.
Sinwar had been designated a terrorist by the European Union. In January 2024, the EU declared him a wanted terrorist for orchestrating the October 7 attacks on Israel, which resulted in over 1,000 deaths.
Posting a photo of Mr Sinwar on X on Thursday, Mr Ahmad said the Hamas warlord was “born, lived and died a leader.”
Mr. Ahmad’s comment on X came after Israel confirmed on Thursday that its soldiers killed Mr. Sinwar in Gaza.

Sinwar took over as the leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in August following the assassination of the former leader, Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed during a firefight between Israeli soldiers and Hamas forces.
In 2021, Peoples Gazette revealed that one of Mr. Buhari’s then-ministers, Isa Pantami, was an apologist for Al-Qaeda.
