Air Peace has reacted to a report of fraud charges by the U.S. Department of Justice against its Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, and Chief of Finance/Administration, Mrs Ejiro Eghagha.
Recall that earlier on Sunday, the United States government filed new charges against Allen Onyema, the founder and CEO of Nigerian airline Air Peace, accusing him of obstructing justice in a recent indictment.
Onyema was alleged to have submitted falsified documents in an attempt to stop an ongoing investigation into previous bank fraud and money laundering charges while Ejiroghene Eghagha, faced charges for his involvement in the obstruction and the earlier bank fraud schemes.
However, the airline, in a statement on Sunday, said the matter was in court, stressing that it understands the development may have raised concerns and wished to address the reports directly.
According to the statement, the charges are part of an extended legal process stemming from earlier accusations of financial misdeeds that date back several years.

It said that, while the charges had been expanded, it would be essential to emphasize that they were mere allegations and the case is still in court.
“Our legal team is fully engaged with the matter and is working tirelessly to ensure that justice prevails.
“We remain confident that, through due process, the truth will be revealed and our CEO and co-defendant will be exonerated.
” We want to reassure the public that these legal proceedings will not impact the safety, reliability or day-to-day operations of Air Peace,” it stated.
