The Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has alleged that the airline has faced relentless attacks since commencing its London operations in February 2024.
Onyema made the claim during a stakeholders’ meeting themed “Finding Lasting Solutions to Flight Disruptions,” which addressed persistent delays and cancellations in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The meeting was attended by industry stakeholders, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, representatives from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
According to Onyema, the attacks are being orchestrated from within Nigeria and include accusations of flight delays and cancellations that are not the airline’s fault.
“These people are relentless in their attacks and they are doing it in such a way that it’s becoming dangerous. I call on security agencies to investigate these. I’m saying this with every patriotic instinct in me. This is scary. These people are doing everything to malign the airline,” Onyema said.
He added that false narratives, including a fake report of an Air Peace crash in Western Sahara, have been circulated on social media to malign the airline.
Onyema, who is also the Vice-President of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), claimed that the motives behind the attacks are to undermine the successes achieved under Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly in the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
He stated, “The target of these people is to diminish the success achieved by this administration especially the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
“The aviation industry under Bola Tinubu has improved, the ease of doing business has improved and it’s excellent but some people want to rubbish the successes of this administration by these fake videos and narratives,” he added.
