Akume Accuses Labour Leaders of Treasonable Felony

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has accused labour leaders of committing treasonable felony following their actions during a nationwide strike.

The strike, which took place on Monday, June 3, saw members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) shut down the national grid.

Addressing the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja on Thursday, Akume highlighted that the national grid is a critical national security infrastructure, and its shutdown constitutes a significant security breach.

Akume urged members of the Organised Labour to exercise greater caution in their demands concerning the national minimum wage and the restoration of the old electricity tariff.
