Governor Alex Otti of Abia has expressed the state government’s commitment to fostering business relations and creating a conducive environment for businesses in the State.
He made the pledge during a recent meeting with the management of Nigerian Breweries Plc.
The meeting, led by the Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Sade Morgan, was aimed at strengthening the ties between the company and the state government. Morgan gave an overview of the company’s operations in Abia, which have spanned over five decades.
She highlighted the company’s commitment to fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities, with several projects executed in the areas of education, health, water, and electricity across various communities in the State.
However, Morgan also brought to light the challenges faced by the company due to the poor condition of the road leading to their facility.
She appealed to the state government to intervene and rehabilitate the dilapidated road, which has been a major hindrance to their operations in the State.
In response, Governor Otti appreciated the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and assured them of the state government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses.
He informed them of the reforms implemented in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system through the introduction of the Treasury Single Account and the legislation enacted on multiple taxation to enhance the ease of doing business.
The governor promised to consider the company’s request to fix the road leading to their facility and to continue to ensure security and stability in the state.
He expressed optimism for a more fruitful collaboration with Nigerian Breweries Plc in the future.
