Alex Otti to Pay 13th Month Salary to Abia State Workers

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, has announced that Governor Alex Otti is dedicated to making Abia workers happy and confirmed that the December salary will be paid with a 13-month bonus.

According to Vanguard, the commissioner disclosed this at a press briefing following the Executive Council meeting on Tuesday in Umuahia.

The Commissioner also revealed that the government is fully committed to clearing the accumulated pension arrears of workers before the end of the year. This commitment to worker welfare is part of a broader strategy by Governor Otti to improve the lives of the people of Abia.

He further disclosed that Governor Otti has signed into law the Greater Aba Development Agency (GADA) Bill. This law allows for the transition of the Aba Rejuvenation Scheme into a full agency to oversee the development of the commercial city of Aba. The Commissioner explained that this development aligns with the Governor’s promise to fix Aba, arguing that if Aba is fixed, the entire state is fixed.

Additionally, the Commissioner stated that the ongoing massive infrastructural development in the state would be sustained. He hinted that the contractor handling the six-lane Ossah road expansion project had assured the governor that one lane would be ready before Christmas.

In response to the perennial gridlock around the Abia Tower junction of the Umuahia/Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway, the Commissioner said alternate routes would be provided to decongest traffic during the Yuletide. He also said that one lane of the Aba/Port Harcourt Expressway would be completed from Aba to the Obigbo border before Christmas.

He further said that the total reconstruction of the strategic Port Harcourt Road by Julius Berger had progressed as expected.
