The former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Wale Adedayo, on Tuesday, was arraigned in court by the Ogun State Police command.
This move comes in response to a petition filed by the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led government.
Adedayo was arrested at his residence in Ijebu-Ife, in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun, and was immediately transferred to the Command’s headquarters in Eleweran.
He was arraigned on a two-count charge.
The charges stem from a letter Adedayo had published and circulated, addressed to the former Governor of Ogun State and elder Statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
In his letter, he accused the incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, of hijacking Local Government funds.
These allegations were deemed false and likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or disturb the public peace.
The petition against Adedayo was titled “Petition against Wale Adedayo’s deliberate circulation of falsehood, false report to government, threat to life and interference with the exercise of executive function,” which Parallel Facts gathered, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
