The incident caused an outburst among the local residents, leading to suspicion of Sesan Bakara, particularly due to the Boy’s peculiar behavior during the initial search efforts.
Bakara, the son of the landlord, was subsequently handed over to the authorities by the community members.
The tension escalated as aggrieved youths set ablaze the residence of Bakara’s father, prompting police intervention.
The state police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the arrest, stating that Bakara is currently being held at the divisional police command in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, for interrogation.
According to Ms. Odunlami-Omisanya, the suspect’s involvement was further suspected after a relative of the victim noticed bloodstains on his foot during the search.
The police have assured that Bakara will be transferred to the headquarters in Akure for a comprehensive investigation. The community remains in a state of distress as they await further developments in this unsettling case.
