Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan Books Place in 100m Hurdles Final in Tokyo

Nigeria’s sprint sensation Tobi Amusan has secured her place in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the World Athletics Championships after delivering a dominant semi-final performance in Tokyo on Monday.

The 27-year-old world record holder crossed the line in 12.36 seconds, finishing ahead of Nadine Visser of the Netherlands, who clocked 12.45s, and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska with 12.51s.

Amusan, who set the world record of 12.12s at the 2022 Championships in Eugene, looked composed from the blocks and glided smoothly over the barriers before powering to victory.

Her commanding run has fuelled hopes of another podium finish as she prepares to contest the final later today at 2:20 pm BST.

She will face a tough field including Grace Stark of the United States (12.37s), Jamaica’s Danielle Williams (12.44s), and Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji (12.44s).

Others in the line-up are Masai Russell of the USA (12.42s), Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas (12.51s), Nadine Visser of the Netherlands (12.45s), and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.53s).

Amusan had already signalled her form on Sunday when she advanced to the semi-final by winning her opening heat.
