The Anambra State government has announced a statewide movement restriction for the local government elections taking place on Saturday.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, stated that the restriction would be enforced from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Mefor explained that the move is aimed at ensuring a smooth and orderly conduct of the local government elections.
He said, “Ndi Anambra are hereby informed that there will be a restriction of movement throughout Anambra State on Saturday, 28th September 2024, from 8 am to 4 pm, as requested by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
“The restriction order is to ensure a peaceful and smooth exercise during the Anambra State Local Government Council Election.”
“Those exempted include individuals on election duties and essential services such as ANSIEC officials, electoral observers, accredited journalists, ambulances responding to medical emergencies, firefighters, etc.”

He advised everyone to comply fully with the order in the interest of peace, warning that failure would incur legal consequences.
