Anambra State to Experience Five-Day Blackout, EEDC Announces

Some parts of Anambra State in the South East region of Nigeria will be without power supply for five days, starting from December 2 to 6, 2023, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has announced.

The EEDC said in a statement issued by its Head, Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, that the blackout is due to a planned maintenance on the facility of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in the state.

According to Ezeh, the maintenance will affect the 60MVA power transformer at the GCM station, which supplies electricity to some feeders under Ogbaru District and Onitsha District in Anambra.

The affected feeders include Harbour 33KV, Golden Oil 33KV, Dozzy 11KV, Bridge Head 11KV, E-Amobi 33KV, Atani Water Works 11KV, Premier 11KV, Housing EBH 11KV, Iyiowa 11KV, Wharf 11KV, Fegge 11KV, Uga 11KV, Market 11KV, Bida 11KV, Iweka 11KV, and Market 11KV feeders.

Ezeh said that customers in Atani, Bida, Main Market, Iweka, Fegge and its adjoining estates, as well as the heavy-industrial clusters within Ogbaru, will experience power outage for the duration of the maintenance.

He apologized for the inconveniences caused by the development and assured the customers that power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance is completed.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the EEDC to provide quality service delivery to its customers in Anambra.
