JUST IN: Angola Announces Withdrawal from OPEC Amidst Dispute on Production Quotas

Angola has, on Thursday, declared its intention to exit the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) due to a disagreement over production quotas.

The decision follows the recent move by the oil cartel to implement additional cuts in output for the upcoming year, as reported by AFP today.

“Angola has decided to leave. We think the time has come for our country to be more focused on our goals,” Mineral Resources and Petroleum Minister Diamantino Azevedo told state broadcaster TPA.
