PIDOM NIGERIA, a prominent anonymous whistleblower, has gone missing, and his social media accounts have been compromised, this is according to David Hundeyin a close friend and colleague.
Hundeyin on Thursday stated that he received a suspicious message from PIDOM’s Twitter account claiming to be PIDOM’s close associate.
PIDOM, an anonymous Nigerian whistleblower has gained fame and notoriety over the past 4 years for series of high-profile document leaks and online exposés showcasing various appendages and apparatchiks of the Nigerian government at their malfeasant, abominable worst.
His leaks have caused embarrassment at the highest levels of government multiple times, resulting in multiple high level warnings from the Presidency to the civil service invoking the Official Secrets Act.
Recall that PIDOM was allegedly arrested on August 5 in Port Harcourt and transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.
Meanwhile, Hundeyin confirmed that he hasn’t heard from PIDOM NIGERIA since August 5.
He further disclosed that the person claiming to be PIDOM’s associate provided incorrect login details, raising suspicions about their intentions. He added that PIDOM’s accounts showed signs of hacking, with multiple login attempts and 2FA codes sent to his UK number.
Hundeyin suspects that PIDOM may be in grave danger or even dead, and that the government is attempting to conceal their involvement.
PIDOM’s disappearance has however raised concerns about the safety of whistleblowers and journalists in Nigeria which has triggered anger amongst Nigerian citizens.
However, the X space has been agog with hashtag #freepidom to ensure his release and safety.
