Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Nelson Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Adepoyigi was reportedly seized on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, near the entrance to his farm.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

He said a combined team of police officers, local hunters, members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and the Nigerian Army had launched a manhunt for the abductors.
Ayanlade stated, “I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road.
“At the receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, VGN and Nigeria Army personnel, launched a manhunt for the suspect(s).’’

He called on members of the public to provide any information that could aid in the rescue efforts and urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
